New York – On February 3, 2006 an Academy Bus Lines coach left New York City heading to Atlantic City. When attempting to exit the freeway, the driver lost control of the bus and it rolled down a steep embankment, flipping over and eventually landing on its wheels. Dozens of horrified passengers struggled with shock and injuries while national news media dispatched reporters and photographers to document the traumatic event.

Initially, the police and reporters could not determine whether there had been a mechanical failure or if the accident was a result of operator error. Attorneys Levine & Blit were immediately called to the scene by frantic parents whose children were in the bus. Levine & Blit assured the parents that the law firm would make sure their loved ones were receiving proper medical attention and that an investigation would be conducted to determine the liability of this incident.

While an investigation was being conducted by the local police, Levine & Blit conducted its own investigation to make sure that the interests of the firm's clients were protected, just in case. Before the local police had finished their investigation, Levine & Blit had determined that the cause of the accident was operator error.

Miraculously, most of the injuries were minor, however, Rachel Morano , a client of Levine and Blit, sustained the most severe injuries of all of the passengers. Rachel suffered from four broken ribs, a punctured and collapsed lung, a lacerated liver, a concussion, a broken leg and a severely broken hand. She was listed in critical condition. Rachel remained in the Intensive Care Unit of AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center for over a week. Fortunately, she underwent surgery and miraculously has survived this horrific accident.

Like many others, Rachel's family called Levine & Blit without a second thought as soon as they received the news of the accident. Levine & Blit were there immediately and continue to assist Rachel and her family in their time of need. "We were among the first on the scene", attorney Les Levine said, "just as Rachel knew we would be, and we will continue to be there until she receives justice." When asked why she called on Levine and Blit, Rachel answered from her Hospital bed, "I wouldn't choose anyone else!"
